Chrysler is recalling some Jeep models due to 'inadvertent' airbag deployment problems,
complete info can be found here.

NHTSA said:
Makes/Models/Model Years:
JEEP/GRAND CHEROKEE/2002-2004
JEEP/LIBERTY/2002-2003

Mfr's Report Date: November 7, 2012
NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V-527
Components:
AIR BAGS
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE

Potential Number of Units Affected: 744,822

Problem Description:
Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2002 and 2003 Jeep Liberty vehicles manufactured January 9, 2001, through March 28, 2003,
and 2002 through 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured February 13, 2001, through May 23, 2003. A component in the air bag control module may fail causing the front airbags, side curtain airbags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.

Consequence:
Inadvertent deployment of the airbags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash.

Remedy:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a supplemental jumper harness to the airbag control module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during January 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.

If a big, big concern you would think there would be a "don't drive another inch, have it towed to your Dealership" warning out there. But no, the recall won't be in place until January 2013. Doesn't affect my 2003 TJ (Wrangler) apparently.
Wouldn't want to look like a Pillsbury Doughboy driving a Jeep. :jpshakehe

FWIW, Chrysler is claiming failure rate is <.03%
That would be fewer than 224 jeeps (from US sales) and 215 already experienced 'IAD' (126KJ+89WJ, though it's not clear if all were from US market)

Personally, if when driving one of the effected jeeps you see the airbag light turn on/hear a chime I suggest keeping your face and limbs away from the bags and taking it in to a dealer for repair asap..
