Hmmmm....my wife has the van this afternoon so I can't check. IIRC, the message stays on in my 2008

 

Mine goes out on it's own. Maybe you have an old software version.

 

Thanks for the responses, according to the mygig site, I have the latest version of the mygig software, we are having some other issues with the radio (station getting stuck on and have to shut the van off for a while before it unlocks) so maybe we just have a bad head unit.

 

Just so I can correct myself...the Check surroundings message goes off after about 5 seconds.

 

Hmm, I'll have to check the manual to see if it says anything in there, cause ours stays on. I prefer it to turn off.

 

Have you checked your owner's manual to see if it tells you anything about it in there? I do not have the new van so I don't know for sure.

Thanks all for checking. I have the latest update of Mygig. I couldn't find ANYTHING in the manuals about the reverse camera, which was suprising to me. Seems like there is mixed results out there for what it is supposed to do. Perhaps there is a setting that somehow relates to the camera, that we changed, but don't know it. Not sure. I'll just have to ask the dealer when it is in for it's first service.

My manual says it goes off after 5 seconds. It's an 09, not sure of that matters.

 

I have an 08 and mine goes off after about 5 seconds

 

So there really is no pattern. 2009 vs 2008, Dodge vs Chrysler, updated migig software. Weird, eh?

 

Since there doesn't seem to be consistency or another explanation, could it be that it is a programmed function? Like how in certain states you can't view the DVD screen from the front even if it is in park because of laws and only the dealer can reprogram it.

Is there any consistency in the states where your vans were originally delivered? Mine goes off in less than 5 secs, 08 T&C originally delivered in Alabama with the latest Nav RER 9.807 update.

Just grasping at straws. :biggrin:

 

Hmmm, no idea on this one. This van is in Iowa, and I can watch a DVD while in park. I could swear when we test drove it, the message dissapeared after about 5 seconds, but now it doesn't. It almost seems like it has to be a setting, or a glitch of some sorts. I will have to ask the service dept. next week when I have it in.

I'll post back if they have anything of value to say.

 

Try changing your home state. Maybe like someone above stated, it is state driven. Since mine goes out after several seconds, try SC which is my state.

 

My NAV Home setting is for TX and the message does not fade away.

 

on my 09 T&C Touring it goes away after 5 seconds or do...... Maybe you need to have the dealer do a star-scan to correct the situation or maybe a mygig update wil do.....

 

Thanks, actually due to other problems with the head unit, and camera, both were recently replaced, and now the banner dissapears after 5 seconds! Much easier to see after the banner is gone I think.
